Planning Your Wedding On A Budget
Having a tight budget does not mean having a poor wedding. Meeting the standards as shown in films and celebrity magazines doesn’t have to be your ideal wedding. It is not about how big and pompous weddings are, but about the sentiment and creating the right atmosphere, that makes a wedding success.
Initially you have to know how much you have to work with, meaning how much money you can put into your wedding, you must have at least a dim idea, if not accurate before starting planning out your wedding budget.
When you figured that out you may proceed to the details themselves. First things to be taken care of are the ceremony and reception venues. Some places require an advanced booking, so you should tackle that first. You will need to decide if you wish to have a more traditional wedding, e.g. a church and a reception hall, or cut one of them, or both of them out, and have the ceremony in a civic justice court and/or having an outdoor reception. Having an out door reception will lower your costs substantially as you will not have to rent a reception hall, which usually comes pretty expensive. On the other hand if you insist having the reception in a reception hall, you can get married outside the wedding season – that means winter. Weekends are also highly preferable for getting married, so weddings on a week day will also be less costly.
Think where else you can cut down costs, maybe a friend can take the task of photography, where you won't have to pay a full photographer fee. The guest list is also a good place for cutting down costs. Having a small wedding can be quite affordable, you might even be able to cancel the reception hall, having the reception in your own home, or maybe in your parents' house, or at a friend's house. If you keep the guest list at 20, you can even go without a caterer, and take care of the food yourself.
Having a second hand wedding dress is also a way in which you can save up. It has only been worn once after all, and you as well, will only where if for a few hours. So if you are not fixed in having your own custom made dress, it is a genuine possibility for you. Have council with friends and family, get creative. Remember! It's about creating atmosphere and having fun and sharing, those are the important things. The details are merely the decoration.
